Billowing Mugwort.
10th July ‘25
Our Mugworts are billowing out now at the front of the top orchard - as Magestic as ever.
However, the poor plants are literally dying of thirst otherwise and it’s just not possible to get enough water over the whole area. It’s such an exceptional year in this way and so early.
The jobs are all still there though and we are slowly pressing on with them as best we can. I spent an hour clearing the overgrown weeds in a section of the netted brassica bed and then retreated to the shade of the brolly to do some seed saving when the sun ramped up in intensity too much….
It’s great to see our garlic drying out nicely and Phil’s melons are bedding into their new home nicely.
Clair and Phil have pricked out the next wave of lettuce seedlings and the colour of the hollyhock at the bottom of the kale is so incredible, I wanted to share that too.
Plus the butterflies are back in abundance - we so missed them last year. However, we also have an abundance of wasps, which is a first here and I’m nervous for the bees…..
