Happy Leeks!

11th September ‘25

Our table has been lovely and colourful this week. The courgettes are filling out again now that it’s raining more and look at how happy the leeks are! No sign of the disease they’ve had the last few years that made them twist and curl.

The lovely George came and moved our log burner from the old shed and fitted it into the new on Monday, whoop, whoop! There are still some bits that need doing to it that we said we’d do to save his time, so Steve and I got our heads around fitting the flue bracket on the wall on Tuesday and we still want to clean off the rust….. It’s looking good though and we are going to be so snug this winter!

Last week, ahead of Phil’s son’s wedding, he asked for words of wisdom to offer to a newly married couple in these times to include in his speech….so Anneli was snapped mid contemplation!

We are so grateful to our volunteers for helping with this weeks jobs which included prepping the garlic bed and separating the largest and healthiest cloves for sowing; saving the little amount of DFB seed that we managed to grow; doing lots of hoeing as all the new green growth is appearing thick and fast on the beds and more pruning of the buddleias….
