Is it conflicted?

16th October ‘25

Goodness, this has to be the speediest week! Thursday already! Are you finding it conflicted at the moment? The stillness being held by nature - you can fall into it really deeply when you stop and at the same time the agitation and chaos of stuff going on - on all levels, be it banking issues, being in the firing line as other people’s fears consume them or machinery breaking….the juxtaposition of the depth of peace with the fractured uncomfortableness is mind bending! So, we put our minds down, put our hands in the soil and keep going….

This week has definitely felt a shift into Autumn with it being much cooler and greyer. We’ve had the fire on a few times in the New Shed. We’ve been weeding in the poly tunnel which feels wonderful and after the stirling work cutting down the old growth on the top orchard on Friday we’ve started removing some of the root stocks to allow more grass to grow. We will let the chickens do their fine scratching work in due course too.

We were given permission to collect the grapes from next door which are perfectly ripe and without anyone to enjoy them. However, juicing them was a totally different experience to when we juiced our own - we created a bomb site! the pulp is so thick and jelly like that we broke a juicer! This must be a variety that would be good to press to make wine and not a table variety….
